GreenIsland Bakery, located at 1369 New York Ave NE, Washington, D.C. which is only a five minute journey from home, was founded in 2020 by owner Caroline Johnston when she realized how much she missed authentic Irish and European pastries, bakery goods and breads. The bakery uses closely-guarded family recipes handed down through generations of the Johnston family.
As an international citizen and entrepreneur, Caroline founded GreenIsland Bakery with her roots and experience in mind. A native of Greenisland, Northern Ireland, Caroline spent years living all over Europe. From Ireland to France to Scotland to Spain, GreenIsland Bakery is inspired by all things Irish and European.
The Bakers’ Lounge, located at 1381 H St NE, Washington, D.C. which is only seven minutes from your RESA apartment ensuring you’ll be the first in line, is an 80-year-old bakery that works with local suppliers to source the freshest and most authentic ingredients, and uses old-fashioned techniques to ensure the highest quality.
Creative Director Catherine Cotay was taught by her grandmother inside of her English bakery, The View, which was located on 45 Fort St. and was regarded as one of the finest bakeries with a range of specialty items from wedding cakes and pastries. Catherine, a graduate of Greenwich University, remains passionate about creating an experience that makes customers taste the difference.
