Anyone can pick up a designer shirt or a gift card for their loved one this holiday season. But if you really want to give a gift that will stand out, you don’t have to go far – you can head to one of these shops selling artisan, handmade items near our RESA apartments.
This December, give a gift that not only shows your friend or family member how much you care about them, but also supports a local crafter and business. Pick up a one-of-a-kind item from these Washington, D.C. stores!
Village Art & Craft, located at 1625 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, D.C. which is worth every minute of the 15 minute drive from your RESA apartment, is a funky, compact shop featuring an eclectic mix of classic Indian attire, jewelry, home goods and gifts.
Visitors can find bed covers, Pashminas, cashmere shawls, belly dancing costumes, skirts and scarves, new and antique jewelry, big and small statues and other decorative items. Clientele has included people such as Goldie Hawn, Laura Bush, senators, ambassadors and athletes.
Honey Made, located at 727 8th St SE, Washington, D.C. which will take you 11 minutes to get to by car, was inspired by the owners’ commitment to showcasing handmade items, combined with their last name: honey!
Honey Made is the place to find handmade and locally-made dresses, bag, soaps, pillows, hats, dresses, bags, children’s clothing, art, jewelry, home décor and more. It began as a local maker and designer of fashion and accessories for women, babies and children before finally taking the plunge and opening a storefront.
