We know you love your RESA apartment, but we get it – you’re more than ready to enjoy the beautiful weather this April now that the weather has warmed up! Here in Washington DC, we’re lucky enough that we’re surrounded by the best restaurants, shops and things to do, as well as beautiful foliage that we can check out at local parks.
This month, kickstart your spring season and go for a run, bike ride or walk through one of our Washington DC parks right around the corner from your RESA apartment. We could all use a bit of fresh air, the views of colorful flowers and some vitamin D!
Alethia Tanner Park, located at 227 Harry Thomas Way NE, Washington, DC which is six minutes from your RESA apartment, is a compact green space by the Metropolitan Branch Trail with a play area, a large lawn, gardens, a meadow, a dog park and vibrant murals.
The 2.5-acre space was named in honor of Alethia Tanner, who was born a slave in Maryland in the 1780s and purchased her freedom in 1810, as well as the freedom of many family members. She was a strong proponent of educational initiatives for Black residents in the district.
Crispus Attucks Park, located at 23 U St NW, Washington, DC which is a 10-minute journey from home, is a popular urban park known for its secluded feel that includes lots of green space, benches and trails.
Crispus Attucks Park is a hidden acre oasis of flowers, trees and grass stretching the length of a city block. But 20 years ago, the property looked nothing like it does today. Neighborhood residents worked together to reclaim the space and transform it into the community gem it is today.
