We can’t wait for March 17 here in Washington DC, when we can celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with a pint of Guinness, a green ensemble and hopefully some luck of the Irish! No matter if you’re Dublin born-and-raised or you don’t have an ounce of Irish blood in you, there’s no excuse not to celebrate this fun holiday that has become just as American as it is Irish.
If you’re looking to take part in the festivities without venturing too far from your RESA apartment, you’re in luck – we have lots of nearby Irish bars that will do all of the prep and scene-setting for you. Thanks to these hotspots, you’ll feel like you’re celebrating in the Emerald Isle itself!
Fado Irish Pub, located at 808 7th St NW, Washington, DC which is just a leprechaun’s skip of a six minute drive from your RESA apartment, is a busy Irish staple with pub fare, draft beer and late-night snacks, plus live music and trivia nights.
Fadó (pronounced f’doe) is Gaelic for “long ago” and is commonly used to start a story, similar to “once upon a time.” This 20-year-old bar chose it because they’re telling the story of Ireland’s rich and ever-evolving pub culture by giving the Irish bar experience a modern swing!
Irish Channel Restaurant & Pub, located at 500 H St NW, Washington, DC which you’ll be at in no time after a five minute drive from your RESA apartment, is a family-owned tavern with classic Irish dishes, sidewalk seating and occasional live music.
The eatery is owned by certified chef Tom Stack, who hails from County Cork, Ireland, so you can bet that he knows Irish food like the back of his spatula! Plus, he runs a friendly, fun staff, serves only fresh produce, fish and meat and also buys locally-grown whenever possible.
