Just because it’s cold out, it doesn’t mean you need to hibernate in your RESA apartment all winter long– bundle up with your coat, hat and gloves and check out one of these ice rinks in Washington DC. Zooming around the rink, you’ll warm right up!
If you’re ready to have some fun this winter without being cooped up inside, these rinks are sure to be just what you need this weekend, plus many of them offer skates to rent. Make sure you get there early – they’re bound to be packed all winter long!
Washington Harbour Ice Rink at 3050 K St NW, Washington, DC which is about 14 minutes by car from RESA, is DC’s largest outdoor ice skating venue at 11,800 square feet.
Annually from mid-November until March, the Washington Harbour Ice Rink transforms from its interchangeable use as a picturesque fountain into a rink open for recreational skating every day, including all holidays. The 2019-2020 season lasts from November 15 through March 15.
Canal Park Outdoor Ice Skating, located at 200 M St SE, Washington, DC which is a bit closer to your RESA home at less than ten minutes away, Canal Park is an eagerly anticipated destination for the area which houses public ice skating as well as lessons for all ages.
For the very beginner to intermediate, they offer lessons for kids in a group format. Lessons are 25 minutes and include an hour practice session directly following lessons. Adults will be able to enjoy lessons as well on Sunday mornings in a quiet and calm environment. These lessons will include a 50 minute lesson and 50 minute practice session with instructors on hand to assist.
And if you’re into the ice but don’t want to be on skates yourself – check out a Washington Capitals game! Our recent Stanley Cup winning team plays only about a mile from RESA at Capital One Arena. Say “privet” to Alexander the Great for us!
