We love the changing leaves and crisp breeze of fall. But sometimes, that breeze becomes a bit too much, and we’re all left looking for indoor activities to escape the dropping temperatures.
There are plenty of indoor activities in Washington, D.C., including checking out the district’s many art galleries filled with everything from abstract pieces to fine portraits. And even better, you don’t have to shell out big bucks at a museum to see them – you can simply pop in from the street. Here are a few art galleries to visit this season.
11:Eleven, located at 10 Florida Ave NW, Washington, D.C. which is just a hop, skip and jump from your RESA apartment at 10 minutes away by foot, was founded by London native Nicola Charles and specializes in U.K. contemporary and urban art.
11:Eleven aims to broaden the horizons of the vibrant art scene within the district by introducing an international approach, bridging the gap between the U.S. and U.K. art markets and introducing spectacular and sought-after pieces, whilst developing the careers of local and U.K. emerging and under-represented artists.
Long View Gallery, located at 1234 9th St NW, Washington, D.C. which is a 12 minute drive from your RESA apartment, offers monthly art exhibits and events in an industrial-chic space with exposed brick walls and a courtyard.
With 8,500 square feet, Long View Gallery lives up to its name as the largest contemporary art gallery in the city. It originally opened in 2006 as a small space solely highlighting local artists but now, spotlights artists all over the world. They represent both mid-career and emerging artists whose diverse portfolios run the gamut from abstract expressionism to photo-realism.
