Every year, millions of Christians all over the world prepare for Easter by, starting on Ash Wednesday, giving up something in their everyday lives as well as abstaining from eating meat on Fridays. To those in Washington, D.C. with big appetites, that means one thing – it’s all about seafood Fridays!
Near your RESA apartment, you can find tons of seafood restaurants near you, from white-tableclothed fine dining establishments to casual joints known for their fried fish – some of which you can even take out to enjoy at home. Here’s where to head before Easter on April 9.
The District Fishwife, located at 1309 5th St NE, Washington, D.C. which is six minutes from your RESA apartment, is a no-frills seafood market and cafe with global offerings like fish ‘n’ chips, tacos and poke bowls.
The District Fishwife is a family-owned small business operated by partners Fiona Lewis and Ben Friedman, who have lived together in the Washington, D.C. area since 2009. Fiona and Ben share a passion for all things aquatic and a commitment to promoting healthy and abundant oceans for future generations. They provide customers with fresh fish and shellfish that has been sustainably sourced, with an emphasis on products from regional fisheries.
Crab Boss, located at 1001 H St NE, Washington, D.C. which is an eight minute journey from home, is an unassuming eatery fixing up crab cakes, lobster, catfish and more, plus canned cocktails.
Crab Boss was birthed in 2015 by Lenell Watson and his wife Ashleigh Watson. From their kitchen in Bowie, Maryland, they cooked up different Florida-style Cajun seafood dishes. They took pictures of the dishes and posted them on social media, advertising them for sale. What started as a means to supplement Lenell’s loss of income from being laid off quickly became the local talk of the town.
