The Lunar New Year is one of the most-celebrated holidays in the world, and every year, Washington DC is home to one of the biggest Lunar New Year celebrations in the Western Hemisphere – the DC Chinese Lunar New Year Parade. Unfortunately, due to covid, the parade has once again been cancelled this year. However, while the parade may not be happening, that hasn’t stopped our city from celebrating! You can find Washington DC Lunar New Year celebrations happening at this Asian restaurants across the city – here are two happening close to your RESA apartment.
Tiger Fork – Located less than ten minutes from your RESA apartment and appropriately named for the Year of the Tiger, this cozy Blagden alley restaurant is celebrating two special occasions in February: Lunar New Year and Tiger Fork’s fifth anniversary from February 1 through 13. A special a la carte menu includes Cantonese dishes such as a whole steamed black bass with scallion and citrus soy, and bubble waffles adorned with a red bean cream and condensed milk. We love this space for it’s authentic atmosphere of Asian art, with chic rustic furnishings that make it feel modern.

The night ends with a mochi donut funnel cake topped with kumquat glaze. Located just ten minutes away from your RESA apartment, Maketto is a beautiful modern space with greenery and big airy spaces.
